Conseravtion of Global Public Goods - the Latin American Experience
Latin America has a long tradition of establishing national protected areas and so it provides the whole world with diverse public goods such as biodiversity protection, maintenance of micro and macro climate, maintenance of water cycles, between others. Safeguarding these areas is though confronted with the difficulties such as how to provide the local population livelihood alternatives and how to finance such huge natural areas. The objective of this panel is to present to the public the results of Latin America nature conservation experiences and of nature conservation funds.
